Young Entrepreneurship Camp at Curtin Sarawak this 26 October

Miri – 20 October 2015 – The Faculty of Business and Humanities of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) and the Asian Council for Small Business (ACSB) are co-organising a Young Entrepreneurship Camp (YEC) from 25 to 29 October 2015 at the Curtin Sarawak campus.

The YEC is part of the 3rd Asian SME Conference being held in Miri and this year’s camp is themed ‘Entrepreneurship: Shaping the Future through Innovation’. It is a dynamic, interactive and inspiring programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students desiring innovative and life changing experiences and is focused on developing ideas, innovating those ideas and pitching them to potential investors.

Highly qualified local experts and successful entrepreneurs including Ehon Chan, Executive Director, Social Entrepreneurship of Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC); Hermawan Kartajaya, Founder and CEO of MarkPlus Inc Indonesia; and Elim Chew, Founder and Managing Director of 77th Street Singapore, will be involved in the event to share their business knowledge in their respective fields.

The objectives of YEC are to demonstrate creativity in formulating business ideas incorporating sustainable innovation; develop the ability to analyse complex information in order to produce practical business ideas and formulate a business plan; and encourage teamwork among the participants of diverse backgrounds.

With these objectives in mind, the participants are required to create new and exciting ventures that inspire action and create change within their local community. During the camp, the participants will learn how to create a business plan – from developing their initial ideas to analysing trends and honing the perfect pitch.

The participants will also experience practical, hands-on training on how to plan an innovative business model by analysing local and global trends, conduct market research and assess financial viability of their business plan before finally selling their ideas.

On top of that, the participants will get to go on site visits where they would be able to network and learn from successful local entrepreneurs in Miri.
