Curtin Malaysia to host forum on parenting and behavioural challenges in children
Posted date:Miri – 8 January 2024 – Parenting plays a pivotal role in shaping the education of future generations, especially in the face of technological advancements and climate change. In view of this, Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is hosting a parenting workshop titled ‘Parenting at Home: Navigating a Child’s Behavioural Challenges’ on 11 and 12 January 2024 for young parents who want to equip themselves with the knowledge to deal with the demands, needs and desires of growing children.
This workshop is a ‘post forum’ workshop, a sequel workshop to the 1st Rethink Education Forum 2023 with the theme ‘Rethink Education in a Fast-Changing World: Technological Advancement and Climate Change’ held at Curtin Malaysia on 26 August 2023.
This workshop will be held from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on the first day and from 9.00am to 4.00pm on the second day in Lecture Theatre SK3-103 in the Skylark 3 building of its Faculty of Engineering and Science.
This workshop draws its inspiration from Waldorf Education and will be facilitated by Audrey Chow, Principal of the Hilltop House Child Development Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The inaugural workshop last year saw participants grappling with the challenges and opportunities presented by rapid technological changes and the pressing issues surrounding climate change. As technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics transform various sectors, the need to equip the next generation with adaptability, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving skills becomes paramount.
In this upcoming workshop, participants can anticipate several key takeaways, including the importance of fostering a loving and secure environment for children to explore and play, and the significance of allowing children to engage in free, meaningful, and creative play. Additionally, attendees will gain insights into the importance of art and the essence of storytelling, exploring how storytelling can assist in addressing a child’s behavioural challenges.
To reserve a seat at the workshop, participants can make payment of the RM200 registration fee via ePay at payments.curtin.edu.my (under ‘Training and Short Courses’).
