Banking industry expert gives guest lecture on data analytics for Curtin Malaysia students

Miri, Sarawak – 10 June 2024 – The Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently hosted a guest lecture by banking industry expert Chai Vong Lung titled ‘Data Analytics in Industry’.

The guest lecture by Chai, who is Assistant Manager at Public Bank Berhad in Miri, was tailored for first-year Faculty of Business students studying the Data Analytics for Decision Making unit. A total of 104 students and unit lecturers Khin Than Myint and Dr. Ivy Hii Siaw Hung attended.

During the guest lecture, Chai provided a comprehensive overview of how data analytics is transforming various industries and shared how data analytics is applied in the banking industry to aid decision-making.

He emphasised the importance of leveraging data to drive business decisions and showcased real-world examples of successful data analytics applications in the banking sector.

The guest lecture received positive feedback from the students, who found it highly relevant to the unit. Many expressed that the talk deepened their understanding of data analytics by showcasing its practical applications.

“We firmly believe that interaction with industry experts like Chai is highly beneficial to our students. It serves as a bridge between academic learning and practical application, preparing our students for successful careers in the business world,” said Dr. Hii.
