Careers Fair to spotlight Sarawak’s energy transition and AI-driven workforce

Miri, Sarawak – 10 August 2026 – The future of work in Sarawak will take centre stage at the upcoming Curtin Malaysia X MYFutureJobs Career Fair 2026, with industry forums and career-readiness workshops giving students, job seekers and professionals insights into emerging opportunities and the skills needed for a rapidly changing workplace.

Organised by Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) in partnership with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) under the MYFutureJobs platform, the career fair will be held on 13 and 14 August at Curtin Malaysia’s Recreation & Event Centre.

Beyond connecting job seekers with employers, the career fair programme includes industry forums and a two-day interactive workshop series designed to bridge academic preparation with workplace expectations. Held on 11 and 12 August, the workshops will equip students with practical skills in areas including career preparation, leadership, workplace communication, interview techniques and job search strategies ahead of their interactions with employers at the Careers Fair.

The forum sessions, open to all career fair attendees, will bring together senior industry executives and academic leaders to discuss trends shaping Sarawak’s economy and workforce.

The first session, “Powering Sarawak’s Future: Energy Transition, Technology and Career Opportunities,” will be held on 13 August from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm.

Moderated by Senior Lecturer in Chemical and Energy Engineering, Dr. Evelyn Chiong, the forum will examine sustainable energy infrastructure and the career opportunities emerging from Sarawak’s evolving energy landscape.

The panel will feature Indiran Nadarajan, Head of End-User Sales & Prescription at Schneider Electric; Ko Sin, Senior Vice President at Sarawak Energy Berhad; and Professor Raymond Chiong Choo Wee, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Science at Curtin Malaysia.

The forum series continues on 14 August from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm with “From Classroom to Career in an AI-Powered Workplace.”

Moderated by Head of the Department of management and Marketing at Curtin Malaysia, Dr. Tian Qian Hui, the session will explore how AI is reshaping organisational structures, workplace expectations and talent recruitment, while highlighting how graduates and professionals can prepare for an increasingly AI-enabled workplace.

Joining the panel will be JinHui Yau, Human Resource Director at Schneider Electric; Evelyn Tan, Legal & Human Resource Director at Uniqlo; and Bryan Chen, Chief Audit Officer at Shin Yang Corporate Services.

Together, the workshops, forums and Careers Fair will provide participants with opportunities to build career-ready skills, gain first-hand industry insights and connect directly with prospective employers.
