Curtin Malaysia alumna recognised as SEMI SEA Emerging Young Leader 2026
Posted date:Miri, Sarawak – 8 October 2026 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is celebrating the success of environmental engineering alumna Sabrina Yeow Peck Kah, who has been named a recipient of the prestigious SEMI SEA Emerging Young Leader Award 2026, recognising her leadership and contributions to sustainability in the semiconductor industry.
Yeow received the award at the SEMI SEA 2026 Dinner and Awards Presentation Ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey and highlighting the growing role of sustainability and innovation in the semiconductor sector.
The SEMI SEA Emerging Young Leader Award, presented by SEMI Southeast Asia, recognises professionals under the age of 35 who demonstrate leadership, innovation and meaningful contributions to the growth and development of the semiconductor industry. Award recipients are assessed on qualities including leadership, adaptability, professional credibility, their ability to drive impactful initiatives, and contributions to industry and community.
Currently a Sustainability Project Manager, Global Operations, at SanDisk Malaysia, Yeow leads sustainability initiatives across manufacturing sites worldwide. Her work spans carbon governance and greenhouse gas management, energy management, product sustainability, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled sustainability intelligence to strengthen operational efficiency and decision-making.
Her career journey reflects the growing intersection between engineering, technology and sustainability. Before moving into corporate sustainability, Yeow established a strong foundation in research and development within the manufacturing sector, where she specialised in process optimisation and product improvement.
She credits her environmental engineering education at Curtin Malaysia with giving her the technical foundation to bridge engineering knowledge with practical sustainability solutions in complex industrial environments.
“Curtin Malaysia played an important role in shaping both my technical foundation and personal development. The environmental engineering programme provided me with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, while also helping me understand how sustainability principles can be applied in real-world engineering and industrial environments,” she said.
Beyond her academic studies, Yeow was actively involved in student leadership and community volunteering. She said these experiences strengthened her communication, teamwork and adaptability – skills that have continued to shape her professional journey.
“I am very grateful for the opportunities and experiences I gained during my time at Curtin Malaysia, and I am proud to be part of the Curtin alumni community,” she added.
Her recognition comes as the semiconductor industry continues to navigate the need for more sustainable and efficient manufacturing practices, underscoring the importance of professionals who can connect engineering expertise with sustainability, innovation and business outcomes.
For Curtin Malaysia, Yeow’s achievement is also a testament to the impact of industry-relevant education and the university’s commitment to developing graduates equipped to contribute to rapidly evolving industries.
