Curtin Malaysia and Top Glove partner to boost student employability and industry readiness
Posted date:Miri, Sarawak – 29 October 2026 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) has strengthened its industry engagement through a strategic partnership with TG Worldwide Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of the Top Glove Group, to expand students’ access to internships, career opportunities and real-world industry experience.
Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 9 October, the partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace expectations by equipping students with industry-relevant skills, practical experience and professional competencies.
Under the MoU, both parties will explore collaborative initiatives covering internship and industrial training placements, graduate employment opportunities, career fairs, industry talks and talent development programmes. These initiatives are intended to give students greater exposure to industry practices, direct engagement with professionals and clearer pathways from university to employment.
Professor Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia, said industry partnerships play an important role in preparing graduates for an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing employment landscape.
“Preparing students for the future extends beyond academic learning. It involves providing opportunities for them to apply their knowledge, gain practical experience, understand workplace expectations, and develop professional competencies in real-world settings,” he said.
Nur Faqihah Aliah Mohd Ridzuan, representing Top Glove’s Group Human Resources, said the partnership would enable the company to share its industry expertise while engaging with emerging talent.
“As one of Malaysia’s leading multinational corporations and a key player in the global manufacturing sector, Top Glove offers valuable industry expertise and diverse opportunities for students to experience modern workplace environments.
“This partnership enables us to contribute to the development of future graduates equipped with industry-relevant skills and competencies, while also providing access to emerging talent who may become part of our future workforce,” she said.
The collaboration is expected to enhance students’ employability by providing opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in professional settings, build workplace competencies and gain insights into organisational culture and industry practices. Direct interaction with industry professionals will also help students understand employer expectations, expand their professional networks and make more informed career choices.
The MoU signing was attended by Professor Lee and senior Curtin Malaysia representatives, including Professor Raymond Chiong, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science; Viziaty Drahman, Interim Senior Director of Administration; Associate Professor Fidella Tiew, Dean of the School of Pre-U and Continuing Education; Sanjeet Kaur Sidhu, Head of Corporate Governance and Legal; Dr. Evelyn Chiong Tung, Senior Lecturer in Chemical and Energy Engineering; and Chin Li Yen, Manager of Careers and Alumni Relations.
Top Glove was represented by Nur Faqihah Aliah Mohd Ridzuan and Noor Syafiqah Hanina Mohd Darus from Group Human Resources.
Following the signing, the Top Glove representatives also engaged with Curtin Malaysia students in a campus session covering career pathways, internship opportunities, industry expectations and practical strategies for standing out in a competitive job market. The session gave the students an opportunity to interact directly with company representatives and gain insights into potential careers with the organisation.
The partnership marks a further step in Curtin Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen university-industry collaboration and develop capable, adaptable and career-ready graduates who can contribute to Malaysia’s economic growth and the wider global workforce.
