Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair 2024 promises exciting opportunities for job seekers

According to Professor Simon Leunig, Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia, the careers fair also plays a pivotal role in connecting academia with industry and the workforce. “The Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair has been a cornerstone event for us since 2010, drawing anywhere from 700 to 2,000 job seekers each year. It’s a vital platform for building relationships between graduates, employers, and the wider community,” he said.

Professor Leunig emphasised that the event aligns with Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to producing future-ready graduates who can thrive in today’s dynamic job market. “This fair isn’t just about securing jobs; it’s about shaping the future of our graduates and building lasting industry ties that benefit everyone involved.”

To give participants a competitive edge, Curtin Malaysia has also organised a series of pre-event workshops from 9 to 12 September, featuring experts from gradmalaysia, Malaysia’s leading graduate recruitment portal. These workshops will cover essential topics such as first impressions, resume building, business presentation skills, and salary negotiation.

Highlights include sessions on ‘Creating a Lasting First Impression,’ ‘How to Ace Your Career Fair,’ and ‘Skills Employers Look For.’ Mock interviews and resume review sessions will also be available to help participants fine-tune their applications and approach.

Chin urges attendees to come fully prepared, with resumes and relevant documents, as many companies will be conducting on-the-spot interviews. “These workshops are designed to ensure that participants are well-prepared to make the most of the careers fair, providing them with the confidence and skills needed to stand out in a competitive job market,” she said.
