Curtin Malaysia co-hosts global conference on law and sustainability

Miri, Sarawak – 16 April 2025 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) and legal think tank Beyond Briefs Law Review, in collaboration with international publisher Paperleaf International, successfully hosted the International Conference on Corporate, Technology and Environmental Laws 2025 (ICCTE 2025), drawing participants from across the globe.

Held virtually over two days under the theme ‘Shaping Sustainable Futures’, the conference convened a diverse line-up of legal scholars, policymakers, academics, and industry experts to explore how evolving laws and ethical governance frameworks can support a more sustainable global future.

With strong academic support from institutions in India and beyond, ICCTE 2025 addressed pressing legal challenges at the intersection of corporate governance, technological advancement, and environmental protection.

Delivering a compelling keynote address, Professor Pauline Ho, Dean of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business, stressed the importance of ethical leadership and transparency in today’s corporate world.

“Modern corporations must balance profitability with responsibility,” she said. “Investors and consumers alike are demanding accountability. It is no longer enough to deliver profit – we must also deliver purpose.”

Professor Ho also spoke on Curtin Malaysia’s strong commitment to sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration, describing the university’s role in the event as both a privilege and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to global discourse.

“Sustainability is not a destination but a journey,” she added, echoing the conference’s call to action to align innovation, policy, and environmental stewardship.

With dynamic panel discussions, thought-provoking papers, and lively cross-border exchanges, ICCTE 2025 marked a significant step toward shaping laws and policies that keep pace with the rapidly evolving global landscape.
