Curtin Malaysia empowers future legal minds through Case Study Competition

Miri, Sarawak – 30 November 2024 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently hosted its Legal Case Study Competition Day 2024, an event designed to challenge and inspire business students by immersing them in real-world legal problem-solving scenarios.

Funded by Curtin Malaysia Teaching Support (CMTS), the competition saw students showcase their legal knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork under pressure. Organised by Dr. Mohammad Belayet Hossain, a lecturer in the Faculty of Business, the event underscored Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to developing future legal professionals equipped for dynamic, competitive environments. It required participants to apply their knowledge to complex legal scenarios, demonstrating their proficiency in legal reasoning and argumentation.

“Competitions like this are invaluable in preparing students for the complexities of legal practice,” said Dr. Mohammad. “The talent and dedication demonstrated give me great confidence in the future of legal education at Curtin Malaysia.”

Three distinguished judges – Professor Tang Fu Ee, Dean of Learning and Teaching; Dr. Fayrene Chieng, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching; and Dr. Dhanuskodi Rengasamy, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance – oversaw the competition, commending participants for their innovative legal strategies and communication skills.
