Curtin Malaysia engineering students gain firsthand experience in cutting-edge modular construction at Juhana Modular
Posted date:Miri, Sarawak – 19 March 2025 – Twenty final-year Civil and Construction Engineering students from Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently explored the future of construction during an immersive industry visit to Juhana Modular, a leading innovator in modular housing solutions.
Accompanied by four faculty members – Associate Professor Wong Kwong Soon, Ir. Meheron Selowara Joo, Dr. Lee Yeong Huei, and Dr. Tina Ting – the students, enrolled in the Integrated Structural Analysis course, gained valuable insights into the latest advancements in modular construction technologies.
Juhana Modular’s Project Manager, Jian Lee, led the group on an exclusive tour of the company’s state-of-the-art production facilities, where the students witnessed firsthand how prefabricated modular units are designed, manufactured, and assembled with precision. The visit showcased cutting-edge techniques in modular construction, quality control processes, and the efficiency-driven workflows revolutionising the industry.
“As modular construction reshapes the global construction sector, our students must be at the forefront of these innovations,” said Associate Professor Wong. “Beyond structural expertise, modular engineering requires cross-disciplinary collaboration in design, manufacturing, and logistics. Exposing students to real-world workflows ensures they are well-equipped to drive sustainable and efficient construction solutions.”
With modular construction gaining traction for its speed, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, this visit provided the students with a deeper understanding of its role in the low-carbon transition and the future of urban development.
