Curtin Malaysia Faculty of Business strengthens industry ties through courtesy visit to MCCCI Miri

Miri, Sarawak – 28 January 2026 – Curtin University Malaysia’s (Curtin Malaysia) Faculty of Business has taken another step toward strengthening university–industry collaboration with a courtesy visit to the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), reaffirming its commitment to industry-engaged education and regional development.

The delegation was led by Professor Pauline Ho, Dean of the Faculty of Business, accompanied by Dr. Fayrene Chieng, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, and Dr. Ivy Hii, Associate Dean of External Engagement.

They were warmly received by MCCCI Chairman Ling Chiong Sing, together with First Vice-Chairman Vincent Lu, Second Vice Chairman Ling Kie King, Education Affairs representative Chong Ken Khee, Assistant Secretary-General Chia Kah Wai, and Youth Entrepreneurship Committee Leader Eric Yek.

Professor Ho said the visit aimed to strengthen Curtin Malaysia’s long-standing relationship with the local business community while exploring new and meaningful avenues for collaboration. “Our discussions focused on enhancing university–industry cooperation to better support student development, graduate employability, and entrepreneurship,” she said. “We exchanged ideas on industry-based learning opportunities, collaborative programmes with the business sector, and platforms that can connect our students more directly with local enterprises.”

She added that both Curtin Malaysia and MCCCI shared a common vision of building a strong and sustainable talent pipeline for the region. “Sustained collaboration between academia and industry is essential in driving economic growth and community development in Miri and beyond,” she noted.

The visit underscores the Faculty of Business’s ongoing efforts to ensure its teaching and learning activities remain closely aligned with real-world business practices, while fostering partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to students, industry, and the wider community.
