Curtin Malaysia gears up for Careers Fair 2024 with skill-building workshops

Miri, Sarawak – 10 September 2024 – Curtin University Malaysia has kicked off its highly anticipated Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair 2024 with a series of pre-event workshops, igniting excitement and preparing soon-to-graduate students, alumni, and other job-seekers in the community for the main event on 13 to 14 September 2024, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm at the university’s Recreation & Event Centre.

In collaboration with gradmalaysia, the nation’s top graduate recruitment portal, these workshops, running until 12 September, cover a range of critical topics, including first impressions, resume building, business presentation skills, and salary negotiation.

The sessions, including ‘Creating a Lasting First Impression’, ‘How to Ace Your Career Fair’, and ‘Skills Employers Look For’, aim to equip students with the tools and confidence to stand out. Participants also benefit from mock interviews and resume reviews, ensuring they are fully prepped to make a lasting impression.

With over 50 top companies from diverse industries on board, this year’s Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair is set to be a game-changer for graduates, alumni, and anyone looking to advance their career. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet recruiters face-to-face, participate in on-the-spot interviews, and explore internships, management trainee programmes, and both part-time and full-time positions. As part of the Careers Fair experience, attendees can also participate in four career talks on 13 September, designed to provide in-depth insights into specific industries. A career talk by the Shin Yang Group of Companies from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon will kick off the sessions, followed by a talk by CPA Australia from1.00 pm – 2.00 pm, and a talk by SD Guthrie Berhad from 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm. Closing the sessions will be a talk by Ernst & Young Global Limited, from 3.00 pm – 4.00 pm. These sessions offer invaluable opportunities to learn directly from industry experts and expand professional networks.

Chin added, “The workshops leading up to the Careers Fair are designed to ensure that participants are equipped with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to shine. Whether you are a soon-to-be graduate or an experienced professional, there’s something for everyone.”
