Curtin Malaysia, MYFutureJobs to equip students with career-ready skills ahead of major Careers Fair

Miri, Sarawak – 9 August 2026 – With employers increasingly seeking graduates who can demonstrate more than academic qualifications, Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), in partnership with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) through its MYFutureJobs platform, is bringing industry-focused career preparation to students through a two-day interactive workshop series from 11 to 12 August.

The workshops, to be held at the Council Room in the Heron 1 Building at Curtin Malaysia, will equip undergraduates with practical skills and insights to help them navigate the transition from university to the workplace with greater confidence.

The programme forms part of the lead-up to the Curtin Malaysia x MYFutureJobs Careers Fair 2026, which will bring more than 50 employers to campus on 13 and 14 August, offering students, graduates and job seekers opportunities to connect directly with potential employers.

“Being career-ready today means more than having a good academic record. Students need to understand how to present themselves, communicate effectively, identify opportunities and adapt to rapidly changing workplace expectations,” said Professor Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia.

“This workshop series gives our students the opportunity to develop those skills before they step into the Careers Fair, where they can put their knowledge into practice and engage directly with employers.”

The two-day programme will address key areas of career preparation, personal leadership, workplace communication, job search strategies and industry-specific career pathways.

The first day will focus on turning personal interests and strengths into career opportunities, developing leadership potential and mastering interview techniques through sessions including “Passion to Opportunity: Igniting Your Path,” “Discovering the Leader in You” and “Career Preparation – How to Ace an Interview.”

The second day will explore career launch strategies, intergenerational communication and collaboration in the workplace, as well as opportunities in specialised fields such as internal auditing.

Together, the workshops are designed to help participants build the confidence, communication skills and professional awareness needed to make a strong first impression on prospective employers.

The momentum will continue at the Curtin Malaysia x MYFutureJobs Careers Fair 2026 on 13 and 14 August at Curtin Malaysia’s Recreation & Event Centre.

With more than 50 leading employers participating, the two-day fair will feature employment opportunities across a wide range of industries, as well as opportunities for networking, career guidance, resume support and on-the-spot recruitment.

Admission to the Careers Fair is free and open to all, including current and soon-to-graduate students and alumni of Curtin Malaysia, graduates from other higher education institutions, experienced professionals, job seekers and members of the public.
