Curtin Malaysia, SEER partner to expand industry opportunities for business students

Miri, Sarawak – 29 October 2026 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is strengthening its links with the professional services industry through a new partnership with SEER Business Advisory Sdn Bhd, aimed at equipping students with practical insights, professional networks and career opportunities in accounting, audit and business advisory.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Curtin Malaysia and the Kuala Lumpur-based entity of Perth-headquartered SEER Financial Group, reinforcing both organisations’ commitment to bridging academic learning with professional practice across Malaysia and Australia.

The MoU provides a framework for collaboration in areas including internships, industry projects, professional mentoring, career development initiatives, guest lectures and knowledge-sharing activities. These initiatives will give students greater exposure to industry practices, professional standards and evolving workplace expectations, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in a competitive global job market.

Representing Curtin Malaysia at the signing ceremony were Professor Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive; Professor Pauline Ho, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Dr. Ivy Hii, Associate Dean of External Engagement; Dr. Dhanuskodi Rengasamy, Head of Department of Accounting and Finance; and members of the Faculty of Business leadership team.

SEER was represented by Craig Gregory, Director of SEER Business Advisory Sdn. Bhd. and Partner, Integrity & Compliance, SEER Financial Group, and Neville Lin, Partner, Audit, SEER Financial Group.

The collaboration extends beyond the formal agreement, with the Faculty of Business hosting a student engagement session following the signing. The session enabled students to interact directly with SEER representatives and gain first-hand perspectives on career pathways, workplace expectations and opportunities within the professional services sector.

Professor Lee said the partnership reflects Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to building industry relationships that translate into meaningful learning experiences and stronger graduate employability.

“At Curtin Malaysia, we recognise that strong industry partnerships are essential in preparing our students for successful careers in a rapidly changing global economy. This collaboration with SEER provides our students with valuable industry exposure, professional insights and opportunities to connect with practitioners who are actively shaping the accounting and business advisory profession across the region,” he said.

By connecting students with industry practitioners and professional networks, the partnership will support Curtin Malaysia’s broader efforts to deliver industry-relevant education while creating opportunities for collaboration in talent development and professional excellence.

The MoU further reinforces the university’s commitment to preparing graduates for an increasingly interconnected business environment, where practical experience, professional adaptability and industry engagement are vital to career success.
