Curtin Malaysia students equip young entrepreneurs with digital marketing skills
Posted date:Miri, Sarawak – 20 October 2026 – Ten Business Clinic students from Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) put their business knowledge into practice by helping young entrepreneurs strengthen their digital marketing skills through a community workshop held recently at Sa’ati Hall, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pujut.
Organised in collaboration with SUPP Pujut Youth and the Miri Intelligent Youth Club (MIYC), the workshop, titled “Digital Marketing Skills for Your Entrepreneurship Journey”, equipped participants with practical strategies to promote their businesses and reach customers more effectively online.
The students guided participants through key aspects of digital marketing, including creating engaging social media content, promoting products and services, building customer relationships and analysing online performance. They also shared tips on avoiding common marketing pitfalls and refining digital strategies to improve business outreach.
Beyond benefiting the participating entrepreneurs, the initiative gave students an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges while developing their communication, problem-solving and professional skills.
Dr. Fayrene Chieng Yew Leh, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching at Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business and Academic Lead of the Business Clinic, said experiential learning was most meaningful when students could apply their knowledge to address genuine community needs.
“Through the Business Clinic, students strengthen their professional capabilities while leveraging their business knowledge to create real value for the community,” she said.
She added that the collaboration provided a valuable platform for students and young entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, share practical experiences and learn from one another.
The Business Clinic at Curtin Malaysia offers students hands-on opportunities to apply business concepts to real-world commercial and community challenges, reinforcing the university’s commitment to experiential learning and community engagement.
