Curtin Malaysia students learn from distinguished local entrepreneur and Curtin alumnus

Miri, Sarawak – 29 July 2024 – The School of Pre-University and Continuing Education (SPACE) at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently organised an enlightening session featuring Jack Ho, a distinguished local entrepreneur with nearly two decades of industry experience, for its students.

This event, designed to enhance the students’ understanding of the complex business landscape, was part of SPACE’s ongoing efforts to equip its students with vital skills for success.

The session, titled ‘Thriving Through Change: Cultivating Skills, Resilience, and Continuous Learning’, was tailored specifically for Foundation in Commerce students. It aimed to provide them with the essential tools and mindset needed to navigate and thrive in today’s dynamic business environment.

Jack Ho, a proud alumnus of Curtin Malaysia and the Managing Director of Yvez Industries Sdn Bhd, underscored the critical importance of adaptability in both personal and professional spheres. Drawing from his extensive experience, Ho shared compelling real-world stories that highlighted how adaptability can be a decisive factor in overcoming challenges and achieving success.

The session was rich with actionable strategies for fostering adaptability, such as embracing change, cultivating a lifelong learning mindset, and taking a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Siti Kasmah Mohamad Kassim, a lecturer at SPACE specialising in Strategic Career Design, Accounting, and Introduction to Management, expressed her enthusiasm for the event. “Having Jack Ho share his wealth of knowledge with our Commerce students is a privilege. His dedication to promoting change and personal growth makes him an ideal speaker for this session. It’s a rare opportunity for our students to gain the essential skills and mindset needed to flourish in a constantly evolving business ecosystem,” she said.

Ho’s dynamic presentation style and his ability to simplify complex concepts made the session both informative and engaging. The students actively participated in a lively question-and-answer segment, which allowed them to delve deeper into specific topics and receive personalised advice. Ho’s passion for fostering growth and innovation left a lasting impression on all attendees.

Since its inception in 2021, SPACE has been committed to providing educational and training opportunities that empower youth to reach their full potential.
