Curtin Malaysia’s vibrant display of unity and cultural pride takes centre stage at Miri’s Maulidur Rasul celebration
Posted date:Miri, Sarawak – 17 September 2024 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) made a proud and impactful showing at the recent Miri Division Maulidur Rasul procession, an event commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, held at the Miri Civic Centre. With over 50 contingents from government agencies, financial institutions, and educational establishments, the procession was a kaleidoscope of Islamic unity and cultural celebration.
Curtin Malaysia’s contingent, consisting of 20 participants from its Azman Islamic Centre (AIC), including students, staff, and their families, stood out for their dedication and creativity in the celebration’s Banner Competition. Their impressive banner design secured a remarkable third-place finish in the category for schools and higher education institutions.
The contingent’s achievement was warmly celebrated by the entire university community, with many praising the AIC team’s hard work, artistry, and devotion. Haji Ariffin Mohamad, President of AIC, expressed his pride, stating, “This event not only celebrates the Prophet’s life but also highlights the unity and diversity we hold dear in Miri. It is an honour for us to contribute to such a meaningful tradition.”
The Deputy Mayor of Miri also praised Curtin Malaysia’s efforts, commending their creativity and enthusiasm in upholding Islamic values through cultural expression. The event further cemented Curtin Malaysia’s role as a key player in promoting a harmonious blend of education, faith, and community involvement, he remarked.
On hand to present the contingent their prize was Deputy Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for P218 Sibuti, Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni. Also present was Resident of Miri, Haji Jamalie Bin Haji Busri.
Curtin Malaysia’s participation in the Maulidur Rasul procession is a testament to the university’s deep-rooted commitment to embracing cultural traditions and fostering inclusivity.
