Curtin Sarawak’s student council and international students organising International Festival

Miri – 14 April 2015 – The Student Council and International Student Association (ISA) of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) will once again be jointly organising the university’s International Festival or iFest 2015 on 25 April 2015.

The annual event is In keeping with Curtin Sarawak’s tradition of celebrating the rich cultural diversity of its campus community, which comprises students from over 45 countries and staff from some 15 countries

The festival will be held at the university’s Recreation & Event Centre, from 11 am to 10 pm, and is open to all students and staff of the university, as well as members of the public.

It will feature an eclectic programme of cultural performances, a fashion show showcasing the national costumes of the various countries represented at Curtin Sarawak, and the release of floating lanterns, all of which will be documented on video by student members of the university’s Media Association.

In addition, there will be food stalls offering an array of culinary delights from the various countries, as well as games, activity and retail booths, throughout the day.

“iFest 2015 will be one of the biggest cultural events organised by Curtin Sarawak students and we are proud to share it with the local community. We aim to bring together our campus community and the many different ethnic groups in Miri, in an atmosphere of friendship and solidarity, where everyone can proudly showcase their cultures to others,” said Haya Seddik, organising chairperson of the event.
