GECOST 2025 was organised by Curtin Malaysia’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with support from the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and technical sponsorship from the IEEE Power and Energy Society Malaysia Chapter.

Building on the success of its previous editions, GECOST has steadily grown into a high-impact platform for global knowledge exchange. This year’s theme, ‘Intelligent Solutions for Sustainable Energy and Technology’, was strengthened through strategic international partnerships with Taylor’s University (Malaysia), the Coimbatore Institute of Technology (India), Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University (China), and Universiti Teknologi Brunei.

The event drew substantial academic interest, receiving 107 paper submissions from across the world. Following a stringent double-blind review, 72 high-quality papers were accepted for presentation, highlighting the conference’s academic rigour and strengthening its international reputation.

The GECOST conference received high-quality paper submissions, with an acceptance rate of 67 per cent . All submissions underwent a rigorous and prestigious blind peer-review process conducted by experts in the respective technical fields.

GECOST 2025 featured four distinguished keynote speakers, each addressing current and emerging innovations shaping the global sustainability agenda. Professor Dr. Abdellah Chehri from the Royal Military College of Canada opened the series with his presentation, ‘A New Frontier for Public Safety: Merging Sensing and Communications in 6G Systems’. He was followed by Professor Dr. Haijun Zhang of the Harbin Institute of Technology, who explored the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the fashion industry in his keynote, ‘From Digitalization to Intelligence: The Pathways of Fashion’s AI Evolution’.

Adding to the technical discourse, Associate Professor Dr. Md.
