Among the academic programmes to be highlighted during the events is the ‘Pathway to Foundation’ or 3-semester foundation programmes recently introduced by Curtin Sarawak. It offers a new pathway to tertiary education by allowing students who have completed the SPM examination but have yet to attain the requisite qualifications to enter the university’s 2-semester foundation programmes to further develop fundamental knowledge and generic skills to bridge the gap and transition successfully.

The entry requirement for the 3-semester programmes (in Commerce or Engineering and Science) is three SPM credits, of which one must be English. Those entering the Foundation Commerce programme must have five passes in total inclusive of relevant units in arts or commerce, while those entering the Foundation Engineering and Science programme must have five passes inclusive of mathematics and chemistry or physics.

Meanwhile, those who are interested to enrol in the 2-semester programmes must have five SPM credits inclusive of English. For the Foundation Engineering and Science programme, students must obtain credits for mathematics and passes in additional mathematics, chemistry and physics.

In addition to the new foundation programmes, the new Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) course will also commence in August. The 4-year, full-time course is ideal for those who are interested to pursue a career in areas such as water treatment, solid waste management (including industrial and hazardous waste management), and domestic and industrial waste water treatment.

Curtin Sarawak’s August (second semester) intake is in progress and students who are interested to enrol in its foundation or undergraduate programmes are encouraged to apply now. Those enrolling in undergraduate programmes can enjoy an early bird rebate if they enrol by 4 July 2014, while those opting for foundation programmes will get a rebate if they enrol before 18 July 2014.
