Curtin Sarawak hosts staff of Politeknik Merlimau Melaka on benchmarking visit

Miri – 10 October 2014 – Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) recently welcomed 16 staff of Politeknik Merlimau Melaka on a benchmarking visit to the university.

The visitors were keen to know more about Curtin Sarawak’s programme accreditation documentation and processes and benchmark them against their own.

Heading the group was the head of Politeknik Merlimau Melaka’s Corporate, Industrial Services and Employability Centre, Haji Dzulkarnain Goh bin Abdullah, accompanied by programme heads and lecturers of the polytechnic’s engineering, accountancy, marketing and business courses.

On hand to receive them were Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Jim Mienczakowski, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Ching and the deans of Curtin Sarawak’s School of Engineering and Science, School of Business, School of Continuing Studies and Office of Teaching & Learning, as well as Director of Academic Quality Associate Professor Shamsul Kamariah.

In welcoming the group, Professor Mienczakowski said Curtin Sarawak was honoured that Politeknik Merlimau Melaka had chosen the university for its benchmarking exercise and he hoped the visit would open avenues for other forms of collaboration between the two institutions of higher learning.

“At Curtin Sarawak, we are always seeking opportunities to foster successful partnerships with other educational institutions, as well as industry, business and government, to enhance the quality of our scholarship, teaching and research,” remarked Professor Mienczakowski.

A briefing on Curtin Sarawak’s programme accreditation documentation and processes was conducted by Associate Professor Shamsul Kamariah, while Dean of Teaching and Learning Associate Professor Beena Giridharan presented on teaching and learning at the university.
