Public invited to Curtin Entrepreneurship Carnival at Curtin Malaysia
Posted date:Miri – 27 September 2022 – The Faculty of Business and student-run Curtin Entrepreneurship Club of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), in collaboration with its Mata pelajaran Umum (MPU) students, are holding their annual Curtin Entrepreneurship Carnival 2022 on 30 September 2022. It will be the first physical Carnival since the last in 2019.
It will be held in the foyer of the Harry Perkins Lecture Theatre at the Curtin Malaysia campus, from 8 am to 5 pm. Members of the public are most welcome to attend and attendance is free of charge.
The Curtin Entrepreneurship Carnival provides students with an opportunity to put the entrepreneurship theories and concepts that they have learned in class into practice at the carnival. Visitors can patronise stalls run by the Curtin Malaysia students as well as external vendors. The stalls will feature a vast array of products and services such as homemade food and beverages, handicrafts, artwork, travel and beauty services, and more.
The Carnival was first held in 2017 and continues to be one of the most widely anticipated events on campus each year. It is participated enthusiastically by students each year and the support of staff and the public has also been quite substantial. This year, 144 students will be involved in operating the stalls.
Professor Andreas Zins, Dean of the Faculty of Business, said the Carnival aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset among students of his faculty, particularly Curtin University Graduate Capability No. 3 (being innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial in various fields such as science, technology engineering, business, and management). The event also supports Curtin Malaysia’s mission to engage communities and transform lives through leadership, innovation, and excellence in teaching and research.
“It is our aim to take the lead in developing breakthrough technologies and creative and innovative human capital that will generate wealth and contribute to the nation’s ambition to have a knowledge-based, innovation-led economy based on creativity and innovation through entrepreneurial endeavours,” he said.
He added that Curtin Malaysia is concentrating on developing a dynamic academic culture through entrepreneurship that inspires creativity and innovation, which is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4: Quality Education.
