Students shine at Curtin Malaysia’s 3rd Company Law Poster-Making Competition

Miri, Sarawak – 12 April 2025Legal theory met creative expression at Curtin University Malaysia’s 3rd Annual Company Law Poster-Making Competition, where business students turned complex legal concepts into striking visual presentations that impressed both judges and peers.

Held at the university’s auditorium, the event brought together bright minds from the Company Law for Business (BLAW2006) unit, challenging them to break down legal frameworks into digestible and imaginative posters.

The competition was spearheaded by Dr. Mohammad Belayet Hossain, Lecturer in Business Law at Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business, with support from industry partner and sponsor PARC Shared Office.

“Our goal was to push students beyond the textbook, to get them to engage with the law in a meaningful, visual, and collaborative way,” said Dr. Mohammad Belayet. “In doing so, they developed not only a deeper understanding of company law, but also critical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills essential for any future business professional.”

A panel of academic judges – Dr. Dhanuskodi Rengasamy, Senior Lecturer in Accounting, and Dr. Fayrene Chieng Yew Leh, Senior Lecturer in Management – assessed the posters based on originality, legal accuracy, visual creativity, and presentation quality.

This year’s competition saw the team of Kangkolo Junior Nteh, Leon Sibanda, Keerthigan Krsnan A/L Gopikrishnan, Semen Mitin, and Badrul Hafizy Sazaly take top honours. The First Runner-Up position went to the team of Kai Chern Chung, Jia Yu Lo, and Jolin Zhe Lin Sian, while Haziq Zainal Abidin and Sean Yang clinched the Second Runner-Up spot.

Dr. Mohammad Belayet noted the rising standard of entries each year, describing this year’s posters as ‘impressively insightful and professionally executed’. He added, “This competition is becoming a hallmark of how we bring law to life at Curtin Malaysia.”

As Curtin Malaysia continues to foster innovative approaches to teaching and learning, the Company Law Poster-Making Competition is proving to be an engaging platform for students to explore the intersection of law, design, and business communication.
