BB1M for first batch of 2,381 Curtin students

Miri – 1 March 2012 – Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is giving out the first batch of 1Malaysia book vouchers (Baucer Buku 1Malaysia – BB1M) to 2,381 of its students.

“Please make good use of the vouchers to buy books for your studies, and not for other things like phone reloads,” Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin told the students when he came for a visit to the university’s Student Services Department yesterday.

Curtin Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Ching was on hand to brief Lee on the progress of Curtin’s delivery of BB1M worth RM200 per voucher to their students.

Among the recipients yesterday was an Accounting and Finance student, Kim Yong Yoon from Kota Kinabalu, who is in her second year of study.

A Curtin staff, Chrisini Bala, said that another batch of over 400 students would be getting their vouchers sometime in the middle of March.

She said the university would try to accommodate more students in the next batch for late applicants as well as for the new intake currently undergoing orientation course by the end of March deadline.
