Miri – 25 May 2012 – The Chemical Engineering Student Club (CESC) of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) recently organised a sports competition to foster closer ties between engineering students and lecturers of the university as well as promote healthy lifestyles through participation in sports.

About 80 students and lecturers representing the Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil and Construction Engineering, and Applied Geology departments of the School of Engineering and Science took part. 16 teams competed in the badminton doubles and eight teams in captain ball.

The highlight of the event was a friendly match between badminton doubles winners Daniel Chong and Jasper Kwok, both foundation engineering students, and a lecturers’ team comprising the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Chua Han Bing, and chemical engineering lecturer and CESC advisor Dr. Agus Saptoro.
