Curtin E-Fact Charity Run 2012 to raise funds for rural school

Miri – 20 September 2012 – The Curtin Educational Excellence Facilitating Team, also known as Curtin E-FacT, and the University Life Department of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) will be organising the Curtin E-FacT Charity Run 2012 on 6 October 2012 to raise funds for rural schools.

The annual run aims to raise funds for the improvement of facilities and equipment at rural schools. This year, the funds raised will go to SK Sungai Entulang located about 50 kilometres from Miri city. According to the Curtin E-FacT members, the school lacks audio-visual and computer equipment such as a PA system and printers.

Curtin E-FacT also hopes to raise sufficient funds for the school’s library expansion project as its existing library is large enough to accommodate 10 students at a time and has a limited collection of reference books.

The run will be held on Curtin Sarawak’s campus from 7.00 am to 11.00 am and will cover a distance of 6 kilometres. It is open to all Curtin Sarawak staff and students as well as members of the public.

Those interested to participate can register under different categories such as the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Boys Under 15 and Girls Under 15. There is a nominal registration fee of RM20 for the Men’s Open and Women’s Open categories for Curtin Sarawak staff, RM15 for Curtin Sarawak students, RM10 for secondary school students and RM5 for primary school students. Participation is free of charge for students of SK Sungai Entulang.

For more details on the charity run or to register, contact Jude Lim at 016-885 5526 or email universitylife@curtin.edu.my. The deadline for registration is 5 October 2012. Those who have registered are requested to collect their bib numbers on the same date at the event booth at the university’s lecture theatre foyer.
