Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair to showcase 54 participating organisations and employers

Miri – 18 September 2023 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is hosting its Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair 2023, bringing together 54 leading organisations and employers from various industries and connecting them with soon-to-graduate students and alumni of the university and job seekers in the community, this 20 and 21 September 2023.

The Careers Fair, which will take place at Curtin Malaysia’s Recreation & Event Centre from 10 am to 4 pm on both days, is a highly anticipated event that offers a unique platform for job-seekers to explore career opportunities, gain insights, and network with potential employers. Attendance is free of charge.

For job-seekers, this event presents a golden opportunity to kickstart or advance their careers, providing a chance to connect with industry leaders and discover openings across diverse sectors. A plethora of exciting opportunities for career advancement and growth will be offered, including internships, management programmes, and both part-time and full-time job placements.

The significance of the Careers Fair extends beyond job-seekers; the participating organisations will also reap substantial benefits. The event enables companies to showcase their brand, culture, and opportunities to a pool of qualified talent. Additionally, organisations have the chance to identify candidates who align with their values and objectives, ultimately fostering a more productive and engaged workforce.

Professor Simon Leunig, Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia, expressed his excitement, saying, “The Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair is a testament to our commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates and strengthening industry ties. It serves as a bridge between academia and the workforce, facilitating invaluable connections for all involved parties.”

The event will feature a diverse array of industries based in Malaysia and Singapore, including banking and finance, technology, engineering, manufacturing, plantations, retail, oil and gas, and many more. A comprehensive list of participating companies can be found on the Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair website at https://career.curtin.edu.my/career-fair/.

Attendees can also expect the-spot interviews and ‘meet-the-employers’ sessions, and career development workshops tailored to help job-seekers refine their skills and make informed career decisions.

Chin Li Yen, Curtin Malaysia’s Careers and Alumni Services Manager and organiser of the event, said these activities aim to equip attendees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and connections to excel in today’s competitive job market. She highlighted that some of the companies will be conducting on-the-spot job interviews and attendees are therefore advised to bring along their resumés, transcripts and other relevant documents.

Next to its annual Curtin Malaysia Open Day, the Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair has been one of Curtin Malaysia’s biggest and most-anticipated perennial events since 2010. Each year, upwards of 500 job-seekers would visit to explore career pathways and job opportunities.

“In a competitive job market, events like the Curtin Malaysia Careers Fair play a pivotal role in shaping the future of graduates, alumni, job-seekers, and participating organisations. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and grow,” said Prof. Leunig.
