Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business celebrates academics’ and students’ achievements
Posted date:Miri – 30 October 2023 – The Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently announced the winners of its Teaching Excellence Awards, which recognise the outstanding contributions and dedication of its faculty to teaching and student engagement. These awards are a testament to the commitment to academic excellence and innovation that Curtin Malaysia embodies.
This year, following a rigorous selection process, the Faculty selected two educators who have consistently demonstrated exceptional teaching practices and a commitment to student success – Dr. Adamu Abbas Adamu and Dr. Ho Jie Min. Both are lecturers in the Faculty’s Department of Management, Marketing and Digital Business.
Dean of the Faculty of Business, Professor Pauline Ho, said the awards not only acknowledge exceptional teaching performance of academics, but also highlight their significant role in enhancing student learning, as well as their commitment to advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning.
“The Faculty of Business remains committed to providing the highest quality of education, and these awards acknowledge the role of these remarkable educators in achieving that goal. Their unwavering dedication to student learning, both inside and outside of the classroom, has left an indelible mark on the Faculty of Business community of both staff and students,” said Prof. Ho.
Dr. Adamu and Dr. Ho were honoured at a special awards ceremony at the Faculty of Business, receiving their awards from Dean of Learning and Teaching, Professor Tang Fu Ee.
On the same occasion, two groups of students enrolled in the MKTG1000 Discovering Marketing unit were recognised for coming up tops in projects to develop marketing plans for industry client GroupMap.
The students were Koh Wen Hui, Tan Rou Yiing, Abang Azri bin Abang Adzhar, Charles Boromeo Eshier Masol and Low Wei Chuan. The MKTG1000 Discovering Marketing unit was taught by Associate Professor Shamsul Kamariah Abdullah and Dr. Fayrene Chieng.
Professor Tang commended the Faculty of Business for celebrating the dedication of its faculty members and students. He said the awards not only recognise individual achievement but also inspire and promote a culture of excellence in teaching and learning throughout the Curtin Malaysia community.
