Entrepreneurship Talk at Curtin Sarawak
Posted date:MIRI, 18 May 2006 -Mr Balakrishnan Muniapan, Lecturer said, “The purpose of this talk is to provide an opportunity to students of Entrepreneurship 300 to listen and understand Entrepreneurship from a practitioner’s perspective. Among the key topics covered were enterprise, start-up, planning, barriers, undertaking risks, sourcing for finance and marketing”.
“The knowledge and experience about Entrepreneurship is a subject which consist not only theories but action. We at Curtin Sarawak aspires to develop Entrepreneurship among our graduates providing them with the knowledge to start-up small businesses with an aim to reduce graduate unemployment rate thus, graduates will be able to create employment opportunities in the society rather than seeking employment opportunities,” Mr Bala continued.
Entrepreneurship student, William Lee said, “I gained a much better understanding of the various techniques and skills required in being an entrepreneur. I find it very beneficial. The talk provided me with the knowledge about entrepreneurship planning and organising. I wish more talks could be conducted as every speaker will share with us their personal experiences in order to be successful in business ventures”.
Majority of the students gained in-depth knowledge and understanding on the techniques and strategic skills required in being an entrepreneur.
At the recent 5th Graduation Ceremony, Soah Yin Sing, Chiu Li Nyen and Koo Pey Juin were awarded the Ernest & Young Award for Most Outstanding Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) student for Year 3, Year 2 and Year 1 respectively.
At Curtin Sarawak, entrepreneurship is taught in the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Administration at the School of Business.
