Five students received Western Australian Government & Curtin University of Technology Scholarship today
Posted date:Miri, 9 February 2007 – Five students, Lai Chiong Ching, Pui Chin Yen, Janet Koo Pey Jiun, Alex Tan Wee Ping and Tan Ee Von from Curtin University of Technology Sarawak (Curtin Sarawak) was presented the scholarship awards by Professor John Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Sarawak today.
The Western Australian Government and Curtin have agreed to offer five scholarships over a period of three years (2004 – 2006) for Malaysian undergraduate students studying at the Curtin Sarawak campus to take their final year of study on Bentley campus.
The WA Government will provide AUD$5,000 for each scholarship towards airfares, visas, health insurance and accommodation and Curtin will provide a full fee waiver for the one year of study.
Out of the many applicants of this scholarship offer, two students from School of Business and two students from School of Engineering were chosen through an interview process and assessment of the students’ result. The fifth student was chosen based on merits achieved throughout their studies from either one of the respective School of Curtin Sarawak.
“We would like to congratulate all the successful students who were presented this scholarship and opportunity,” states Dr. Adeline Wong, Academic Registrar of Curtin Sarawak.
“We believe that this is a great cultural exchange experience and this will broaden their knowledge as well.”
