ILP students win 2nd Season Curtin Volleyball Champions Challenge 2011

Miri – 18 May 2011 – Three teams from Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Miri recently battled it out with teams from Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) in the 2nd Season Curtin Volleyball Champions Challenge 2011, in which ILP emerged as overall winner.

Organised by the Curtin Volleyball Club, the competition was held at the university’s Recreation and Event Centre from 6 to 8 May 2011. Curtin Sarawak was represented by two male teams and a female team, while ILP fielded two female teams and one male team. The competition was divided into male category and female categories.

The ILP teams proved their prowess on the court, dominating both the male and female categories. However, Curtin Sarawak’s three teams comprising Junior Stars, N2Y and Miss Curtin 2011 did not concede without putting up a fierce fight.

Helen Ting of Miss Curtin 2011 was adjudged the most valuable player in the female category while Hii Wei Ching of ILP was the most valuable male player.

The competition was organised to promote the game of volleyball amongst students of institutions of higher learning, as well as build up the confidence and fitness levels of their volleyball players, and select potential players for future national-level competitions.
