Professor Andy Chan joins Curtin Sarawak Research Institute

Miri – 10 January 2012 – Curtin Sarawak Research Institute (CSRI) is pleased to announce that Professor Andy Chan of University Nottingham Malaysia Campus has joined CSRI as a Visiting Professor.

CSRI is a multi-disciplinary research institute at Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) committed to collaborating with distinguished professors from around the world to achieve its vision of being a world-renowned research organisation focusing on the energy and biotechnology needs of the region.

Professor Chan, who holds Bachelor of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The University of Hong Kong, is currently the Director of Research in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

He has a reputable track record in research and has led international teams of researchers in areas relating to fluid mechanics, air pollution dispersion modelling, climate change and energy.

At CSRI, Professor Chan will contribute to research in harnessing energy from the sun and from wastes.

“Professor Andy Chan is an exceptional scholar who is passionate not just about developing technological solutions but also about the socio-economic and cultural impact of the technologies on communities. I am delighted that he has joined CSRI and believe he will make a significant contribution in driving research excellence at Curtin Sarawak,” said Professor Aaron Goh, Director of CSRI.

Professor Chan, meanwhile, said he is excited with the prospects of working with CSRI and contributing to the development of energy technologies that can better serve the region.
