2nd Curtin Open Bowling Competition sees greater participation

Miri – 24 October 2013 – The recent 2nd Curtin Open Bowling Competition organised by the Curtin Bowling Club of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) attracted 80 participants comprising staff and students of the university as well as other bowlers in Miri.

The competition held at Mega Lanes East at Bintang Megamall was officiated by city councillor Robert Ayu representing Mayor Lawrence Lai.

The team category was won by ‘King Pin’ comprising Norziah Hosainie, Mohd. Shafizul, Anderson Wong and Patrick Ng. In second place was ‘Petronas 1’ comprising Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Fadzilawati Khairuddin, Hadi Ibrahim and Abu Nawas Awg Biak, while ‘Stranger’ comprising Jestini Kaboh, Zamir Ibrahim, Ricardo Mendoza and Nadia Abdullah came in third.

Patrick Ng and Nadia Abdullah bagged the awards for Best Individual Male Player and Best Individual Female Player, respectively.

Best Individual Male Player first runner-up was M. Harith Abdullah followed by second runner-up Anderson Wong. Fatimah Yusof and Gillian Lim came second and third in the Best Individual Female category, respectively.

Curtin Bowling Club Advisor Jameson Malang thanked all the sponsors and participants for helping make the competition a success. He said the club looks forward to hosting a bigger event next year.
