‘Business Sustainability in Era of Globalisation’ to be focus of international business conference in December

Miri – 4 June, 2009 – ‘Business Sustainability in the Era of Globalisation’ will be the theme for the inaugural Curtin International Business Conference to be held in Miri from 10 to 12 December 2009.

The conference is being jointly organised by the Business Schools of Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia and Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) and prominent business figures and academicians from throughout the globe are expected to attend.

The conference is timely in light of the current global financial meltdown as it will serve as a platform to address factors affecting economies worldwide. Hence, it may be able to shed some light on how successful businesses are able to sustain their profitability in the face of increasing globalisation and the financial crisis.

According to conference convener Shamsul Kamariah Abdullah who is also the Dean of the School of Business at Curtin Sarawak, the conference is expected to attract about 150 participants from various parts of the world including Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, China and Indonesia.

She says the conference will be an excellent platform to consider the threats and opportunities of globalisation and how businesses can overcome these issues swiftly.

“It will help businesses to re-position themselves and thrive for sustainability. It would also provide an avenue for academicians, researchers and the business community to converge and share knowledge to mutually benefit all the parties involved,” she adds.

Academicians, researchers and members of the business community who wish to share their knowledge in this area are invited to submit their papers for presentation at the conference by e-mailing their abstracts to cibc2009@curtin.edu.my by 30 July 2009. Further information on the submission of papers is available on the conference website at http://s44937.p1679.sites.pressdns.com/cibc2009.
