Curtin Malaysia extending its foundation intake to 26 April

Miri – 13 March 2019 – Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is extending its current foundation programme intake to 26 April 2019 to cater to school leavers who have just received their results and are keen to enter foundation programmes in engineering and science, commerce or arts.

The extension also applies to students with SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level or UEC qualifications who have yet to apply for either the current intake or the next foundation and degree intakes in July/August.

Though foundation classes are due to commence this 25 March, those enrolling beyond that date will still be able to catch up through special orientation sessions in place of the formal orientation and replacement learning sessions for missed classes.

Foundation students are guaranteed places in the undergraduate courses in Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business or Faculty of Humanities upon successful completion of their one-year programmes.

The foundation programmes are intensive, focused programmes aimed at ensuring students attain the academic requirements to enter undergraduate programmes of their choice and are able to adapt to university life more confidently, both in terms of level and style of education.

Students are taught by experienced lecturers and have access to various academic support mechanisms. They also benefit from low student-lecturer ratios in classrooms and a diversified learning experience that includes workshops, tutorials, laboratory projects, field trips and group work.

Curtin Malaysia is the largest international campus of Curtin University, a global university with campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius and ranked in the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2018.

Students at Curtin Malaysia study courses identical to those at the other Curtin campuses and degrees earned at the Malaysian campus are conferred directly by the main campus in Perth. They also enjoy an undifferentiated learning experience and student support mechanisms such as online study resources and distributed learning in real time between campuses.

Like its Australian parent, Curtin Malaysia has a very global focus with over 4,000 students from more than 50 countries and international teaching staff from some 20 countries further strengthening its international outlook.

Curtin Malaysia is currently offering special scholarships in conjunction with its 20th anniversary celebrations worth RM2.5 million for outstanding students in Miri to undertake foundation and selected undergraduate courses. In addition, students throughout Malaysia with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations can take advantage of the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships. Both scholarships offer partial or full tuition fee waivers based on examination results achievement.
