Curtin Malaysia signs MOA for collaboration in research and education with Indonesian varsity
Posted date:Miri – 24 September 2019 – The recent 5th International Conference on Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering (ICIMECE 2019) held at The Alana Hotel, Surakarta, Indonesia on 17 -18 September 2019 saw the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) during the conference’s opening ceremony.
During the ceremony, Dr. Fethma M. Nor of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science represented the university in exchanging the MOA with UNS’ Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ir. Sholichin As’ad. The MOA was signed by Curtin Malaysia’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Jim Mienczakowski and Dr. Ir. Sholichin.
The MOA sets the framework for collaboration in the research, academic and educational fields between UNS’ Faculty of Engineering and Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science. This will include exchanges of academic staff and students, joint research, and exchange of academic information and scientific publications.
UNS’ Faculty of Engineering is committed to sending its engineering students for internship placements with partner institutions with the aim of training students on ‘Engineering Design Capstone – Resolving Engineering Problems’ using the Multi Study Program Approach.
Universitas Sebelas Maret is an Indonesian public university that is the result of the unification of the five universities in Surakarta, Central Java, established in 1976. It was subsequently named Universitas Negeri Surakarta (State University of Surakarta), hence its name was abbreviated UNS.
