Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business keen to collaborate with Miri business community

Miri – 8 November 2019 – A delegation from the Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), led by newly-appointed Acting Dean Dr. Stephen Sim, recently paid a courtesy visit on the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI).

Also in the delegation were Dr. Lew Tek Yew from the Faculty’s Department of Management and David Lee from its Department of Foundation Studies.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce Dr. Sim, who is also Head of the Department of Management in the Faculty of Business, to the executive committee members of MCCCI, as well as explore ways the Faculty of Business can collaborate with MCCCI to promote Miri as an educational hub in the northern region of Sarawak.

On hand to receive them were MCCCI Chairman Lee Koi Yun, Secretary Vincent Lu Yew Hee and executive committee members Stanley Soong and Alex Chia.

According to Dr. Sim, the Faculty of Business aims to explore ways of working collaboratively with local stakeholders, such as in the area of advisory support to the business community, including educational institutions, and also jointly organising activities for the benefit of both the university and the Miri business community.

“The initiative of working together and further developing the close relationship with bodies such as MCCCI is part and parcel of the Faculty of Business’ philosophy of exploring synergistic benefits of working positively and collaboratively with the business community. It is also very much part and parcel of Curtin Malaysia’s corporate social responsibility initiatives,” commented Dr.Sim.
