Curtin Sarawak hosting talk on corporate governance in Malaysia on 13 September
Posted date:Miri – 4 September 2013 – Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is inviting members of the public to attend a talk entitled ‘Corporate Governance Update and Challenges/Issues’ hosted by the Department of Accounting of its School of Business’ on 13 September 2013. Students and staff of the university are also invited to attend.
The talk will be delivered by Chong Chee Fern, General Manager, Corporate Monitoring of Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG) in the university’s new 400-seat auditorium from 2.30 to 4.30 pm.
Chong’s talk will cover, amongst others, corporate governance, overview of the state of corporate governance in Malaysia, the Malaysian Corporate Governance index, relevance of corporate governance to financial institutions, the global financial crisis, the Corporate Governance Blueprint, and the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance.
In his current position at MSWG, Chong, a chartered accountant, is responsible in overseeing the monitoring of selected public listed companies, complaints, MSWG’s newsletters, the annual surveys of the Malaysian Corporate Governance Index as well as review of consultation papers.
He has vast working experiences with Bank Negara Malaysia, international shipping corporation, international consultant and investment bank.
