Naim Land and Curtin Sarawak reach out to community through short video competition

Miri – 18 January 2013 – Naim Land Sendirian Berhad and Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) are jointly organising a community project in the form of a short video competition on high-rise apartment and condominium living.

Open to residents of Malaysia, the Naim Land – Curtin Sarawak Short Video Competition, with the theme ‘My Dream High-rise Home’, will run from 18 January to 15 April 2013.

The competition is being organised with the objectives of the gauging the community’s view as to what constitutes ideal high-rise living, educating the public on the benefits of high-rise living, as well as exposing the public to the art of video production and producing compelling marketing messages through digital means, and providing an exciting platform for local talents to demonstrate their talent and creativity.

Attractive cash prizes of RM2000, RM1000 and RM500 will be awarded to the top three winners respectively, and winners of the People’s Choice, Best Script, Best Actor or Actress and Best Director awards, in addition to trophies and certificates of participation.

Amateur video makers or first-timers with an interest in short video making or script-writing are encouraged to participate in the competition as individuals or in groups.

The competition was launched by Naim Land’s General Manager – Miri Operations, Michael Ting, and Curtin Sarawak’s Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yudi Samyudia, at a launch event held at Naim Land’s property sales office at Permy Mall here today.

Ting said, “As Naim has always taken into consideration the interests of the communities in which it operates and is an advocate of community development, it is collaborating with Curtin Sarawak, Curtin University’s largest international campus, which shares our belief in being an active, contributing member of the community.”

On a similar note, Professor Samyudia, said, “We were thrilled when Naim Land first approached us last year to collaborate on this short video competition. There is nothing greater than partnering with an organisation with a mission for community engagement that aligns with ours.”

Curtin Sarawak’s award-winning Department of Media, Culture and Communication, a component of its School of Business, is highly regarded as a leading provider or media and communications studies in Malaysia. The department, with the support of the university’s Corporate Communications Department, is contributing its technical expertise and experience in organising and participating in video competitions to the competition.

Participants of the competition are required to produce video clips of no more than five minutes on their ideal high-rise home and the benefits of high-rise living. The videos should appeal to both young urbanites who are attracted to high-rise living in apartments or condominiums, and families looking to own safe, convenient and tastefully designed high-rise homes.

Concepts from the entries may be adapted for Naim Land’s corporate video promoting its new high-rise properties to be built in Sarawak.
