Public invited to attend talk on cyber security policy at Curtin Sarawak
Posted date:Miri – 18 September 2013 – Members of the public and business professionals interested in cyber security and related policies in Malaysia are invited to attend a talk by Zahri Yunos, chief operating officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, at Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) this 20 September 2013. It is also open to all students and staff of the university and attendance is free.
Organised by Curtin Sarawak’s School of Business, the talk entitled ‘Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Policy: An Integrated Approach for Cyber Security and Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection’ will be held from 2.30 to 4.00 pm at The Auditorium at the university.
In his talk, Zahri will highlight Malaysia’s experience in implementing the National Cyber Security Policy (NCSP) which has been designed to address emerging cyber threats and facilitate Malaysia’s moving towards a safer and more secure environment.
According to him, cyber space is a virtual space that has become as important as the physical space for social, economic and political activities.
He added that the number of such threats increases day by day with the Critical National Information Infrastructures (CNII) as the main targets. Therefore, a comprehensive master plan is required to address cyber security issues effectively.
Zahri holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from University Technology Malaysia and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey, USA. He is also a Associate Business Continuity Professional certified by the Disaster Recovery Institute International, USA.
In addition, he was awarded Senior Information Security Professional Honoree in July 2010 by the (ISC)², USA, and has contributed various articles to leading publications and presented papers at conferences on topics related to cyber security and business continuity management.
