Miri – 8 May 2019 – The Faculty of Business at Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is inviting members of the public in Miri to its 2019 Entrepreneurship Carnival on 9 and 10 May 2019.

Organised by the faculty in collaboration with its Institute of Marketing Malaysia Student Chapter (IMMSC), the carnival will held at the foyer of the Harry Perkins Lecture Theatre on the Curtin Malaysia campus from 10 am to 4 pm on 9 May and 10 am to 2 pm on 10 May.

Entry is free of charge and visitors, as well as students and staff of the university, will be able to patronise 20 stalls run by Curtin Malaysia students and external vendors.

The stalls will feature a vast array of products and services such as homemade food and beverages, handicrafts, artwork, travel and beauty services, and more.

Visitors will also get to vote for the best three stalls at the carnival, which will be awarded coveted ‘People’s Choice Awards’ and cash prizes.

The annual Entrepreneurship Carnival is organised in conjunction with the Faculty of Business’ Business Week, a week-long programme of events which runs from Monday to Friday this week to develop entrepreneurial skills and experience amongst its students.

According to Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Associate Professor Dr Pauline Ho Poh Ling, the much-anticipated Business Week and Entrepreneurship Carnival have proven very effective in promoting an entrepreneurial mindset among students and are participated enthusiastically by students each year. The support of staff and the public has also been quite substantial.

“Business Week is one of the many events organised by Curtin Malaysia to bring young people together and engage with the local community to promote positive change,” said Associate Professor Ho.

Among the activities being held in conjunction with the Business Week are a Social Enterprise Cup and Curtin Tax Challenge organised in collaboration with Curtin Malaysia’s SME and Entrepreneurship Club and Accounting Club, respectively.

Meanwhile, an investment talk entitled ‘Road to Financial Freedom’ organised by the CPA Australia Student Charter of Curtin Malaysia will be held on 8 May. The talk will be delivered by founder of Street Finance and Curtin alumnus Bong Jeen Hao.
