Public lecture on innovation in China at Curtin Sarawak on 6 March
Posted date:Miri – 1 March 2013 – Staff and students of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) as well as members of the public are invited to attend a public lecture entitled ‘Change of Innovation Paradigm in China: From Copy-Paste to Technology Creation’ at the Curtin Sarawak campus on 6 March 2013.
Hosted by the Curtin Sarawak Research Institute (CSRI), the university’s multi-disciplinary research institute, the public lecture will be held in the Harry Perkins Lecture Theatre (Falcon 1) from 5.15 pm onwards.
It will be delivered by Professor Dominique Jolly, Professor of Business Strategy at SKEMA Business School, France. SKEMA Business School offers bachelors, masters and doctoral programmes in China, France, Morocco and the United States and is accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System).
Professor Jolly is also a Visiting Professor at CSRI and China Europe International Business School in Shanghai, China.
The lecture will highlight the recent changes implemented in the Chinese national system of innovation, including the reinforcement of higher education and public scientific research, implementation of new infrastructure and regulations, the surge of research and development (R&D) activities in Chinese companies and the expansion of foreign R&D laboratories in China.
Professor Jolly will also present on four different types of technology creation and their key success factors by foreign companies in China. In addition, there will be a special focus on 20 companies located in Shanghai.
Professor Jolly’s scholarship includes business strategy and management of technology and innovation. He has written extensively on inter-firm alliances, technology sourcing, technology assessment and competitive uses of technology in enterprises.
His lecture will be of interest to companies that wish to embark on or have already developed an innovation roadmap.
This public lecture is the second focusing on China organised by CSRI this year. An earlier lecture on business and legal policies in China by influential economist Professor John Gong of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing was held on 30 January 2013.
