Curtin Global Village at Curtin Sarawak on 25 August
Posted date:Miri – 23 August 2015 – The AIESEC Chapter of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is holding its Curtin Global Village, an annual event promoting cultural diversity and global citizenship, on 25 August 2016.
Open to students and staff of the university, as well as members of the public, it will be held in The Auditorium at the university, from 6 to 10 pm.
The event will see participation of AIESEC student members from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, France, Taiwan, Italy, Poland, and the United States, to name a few.
Curtin Global Village aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and interaction between students of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds and the local community. Attendees will get the opportunity to watch colourful cultural performances, sample a wide variety of cuisines, and take part in games and lucky draws.
The first prize winner in the lucky draw will walk away with RM600 and RM800 administrative fee waivers on AIESEC’s exchange and internship programmes, Global Citizen and Global Intern, and also Tea House Vouchers.
The Global Citizen programme allows students and recent graduates to volunteer for voluntary projects abroad for six to eight weeks, whereas the Global Intern programme offers youth the chance to explore their potential through a global platform composed of over 100 countries across the world.
Tickets for the Curtin Global Village priced at RM5 each will be sold at the venue on the day. A limited number of exclusively-designed T-shirts priced at RM22 will also be sold.
AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, non-profit youth leadership organisation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher learning. Curtin Sarawak was the first higher education institution in East Malaysia to have an AIESEC chapter.
Present in over 124 countries and territories and with over 86,000 members, AIESEC provides an international platform for youth to explore and develop their leadership potential through experiential learning and volunteer experiences.
