Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry to host Curtin Application Day events

Miri – 21 June 2016 – The Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) is once again hosting Curtin Application Day student recruitment sessions in collaboration with Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) on 25 June and 23 July 2016.

The sessions will be held from 9 am to 12 noon at the MCCCI at No. 28, High Street (opposite the Miri District Office) so potential students and their parents can conveniently drop by and consult with representatives of the university regarding enrolment whenever they are in the city centre.

This was announced at a press conference at the MCCCI today following a courtesy call on MCCCI chairman Lee Khoi Yun by Curtin Sarawak’s Director of Marketing Alex Chung and Marketing Manager Klaus Sim. Also present were MCCCI Secretary-General Vincent Lu Yew Hee, who is also a director of Curtin (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, and other members of MCCCI.

Curtin Sarawak’s second semester intake is currently in progress with classes for its undergraduate and foundation programmes commencing on 1 August and 15 August respectively.

Curtin Sarawak offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and related sciences, business and humanities identical to those at its parent campus in Perth, as well as one-year courses at foundation level that feed directly into the undergraduate programmes.

As a shareholder in the university and a key community player in Miri, the MCCCI actively supports Curtin Sarawak’s recruitment activities each semester, hosting recruitment events and encouraging its members, business associates and members of the public to attend.

Chung said that it is through the support of the local community and its strong relationships with its business and industry partners like the MCCCI that Curtin Sarawak has achieved a student population nearing 4,000 and continues to provide a quality yet affordable Australian education and global learning experience here in Sarawak.

Housed on a 1,200-acre garden campus and with students and staff from over 45 countries, Curtin Sarawak is the largest international campus of Curtin University.

Chung hopes that interested students and their parents will take the opportunity during the Curtin Application Day events to find out all they can about studying at Curtin Sarawak. Marketing staff of the university will be available for consultation and applications can be made on the spot.

They can also find out more about scholarships and study loans available, including the very attractive Curtin Sarawak Merit Scholarships for school leavers with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations. Information on the Merit Scholarships can be found at http://scholarships.curtin.edu.my/scholarships/internal-scholarship/curtin-sarawak-merit-scholarship/.

Admission to the Curtin Application Day events is free and potential students attending are advised to bring along their examination results or academic transcripts for assessment and on-the-spot applications.
