Curtin Malaysia deputy dean wins award for outstanding contribution to education

Miri – 11 July 2017 – Associate Professor Pauline Ho, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business at Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), recently received a 2017 Golden Globe Tigers Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education.

The Golden Globe Tigers Awards is multi-functional, multi-discipline and industry-focused and recognises ‘tigers’ in marketing, branding, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social innovation, education and academia across all leadership levels. It is awarded to both individuals and organisations that believe that excellence is infinite, perfection has no limit, and targets are milestones, not an end of a journey.

The award in the Education Leadership category was presented to Associate Professor Ho by the Chairman of the Golden Globe Tigers Awards and Academic Committee, Edward Smith at the 4th Golden Globe Tigers Awards ceremony in conjunction with the World Education Congress held recently in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the organisers, winning the Golden Globe Tigers Award is the highest recognition individuals and organisations can aim to achieve because they believe that perfection has no limits.

“I believe in making a difference to the lives of others through education. Embracing the concept of entrepreneurship and innovation, I am a keen advocate of instilling entrepreneurial spirit and developing entrepreneurship among our students,” said Associate Professor Ho.

She believes that with appropriate entrepreneurial exposure and education, Curtin Malaysia’s graduates can start their own businesses, create employment and help shape the future of industry.

She added that the power of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) cannot be underestimated. MSMEs have great potential to contribute significantly to product innovation in the marketplace as well as the creation of new jobs in the workforce.

The Golden Globe Tiger Awards are awarded based on an intensely-researched process undertaken by a research cell consisting of postgraduates in history and management who produce a shortlist of exemplary individuals and track the record of their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a jury comprising senior professionals from across the globe.

The World Education Congress, meanwhile, is a platform for participants to discuss evolving trends in education and examines modern as well as traditional knowledge systems. Besides networking opportunities, the conference offers unique in-depth approaches to understanding important academic issues that can affect the viability of academic institutions in today’s fast-paced business environment.
