Curtin Malaysia holding Curtin Discovery Day for prospective students

Miri – 13 February 2017 – Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), the largest international campus of Curtin University, is holding a Curtin Discovery Day on 18 February 2017 to give prospective students and their parents the opportunity to visit and find out more about studying at the campus.

Its February/March or first semester intake is now in progress with classes for undergraduate and foundation courses commencing on 27 February and 27 March respectively.

Meanwhile, students applying for the first semester intake are eligible to receive complimentary Starbucks gift cards worth RM20 and those officially enrolled with payment made will get AirAsia travel e-vouchers worth RM300. The event will be from 10 am to 4 pm in the university’s Heron 1 Building lobby and admission is free of charge.

SPM school leavers keen to enrol in the current intake are encouraged to attend and meet marketing staff who will give them advice on available courses and scholarships, career pathways and enrolment. They are advised to bring along their actual or forecasted results for on-the-spot assessment and application.

Curtin Malaysia is offering an early bird rebate of RM200 to students who enrol for the foundation intake and make payment of applicable fees before 27 February 2017.

The event will include a ‘Course Counselling Coffee Session’ where prospective students and parents will get to meet academic staff and find out more about Curtin Malaysia’s three faculties (Engineering and Science, Business and Humanities).

Representatives of PTPTN and Yayasan Sarawak will be on hand to advise on study loans and scholarships they offer, as well as officers from Curtin Malaysia’s loans and scholarships section who will be promoting Curtin scholarships for students enrolling at the campus.

Among the scholarships are the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships for school leavers with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations to undertake foundation and undergraduate studies.

In addition, marketing staff will also be conducting tours to highlight its wide range of campus facilities and learning and teaching facilities such as the new engineering building, library, auditorium and lecture theatres, laboratories and distributed learning rooms.

Other highlights of the day will be talks by academic staff from the various faculties, including ‘Explore Engineering!’ and ‘Explore Business!’ sessions from 11 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 3 pm respectively. Alumni of Curtin Malaysia will also talk about their past experiences as students of the campus and their current careers.

Curtin Malaysia offers world-ranked Curtin courses in business, humanities, engineering and related sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as foundation courses in business, arts and engineering that feed directly into the undergraduate programmes.
