Curtin Malaysia holds friendly bowling match to bolster relations with agencies

Miri – 26 October 2017 – Over 40 bowlers from Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), Immigration Department Miri Office and National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) took part in a friendly bowling match organised by the university’s Curtin Bowling Club recently.

Held at Mega Lanes East Bintang Megamall, it was aimed at bolstering friendly relations between the university and the three agencies, which it works very closely with for staff and student benefits. 11 teams from the four organisations competed in the match.

The match was launched by Curtin Malaysia’s Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Beena Giridharan. In her welcoming speech, Professor Giridharan remarked that bowling events have proven highly conducive for maintaining good relationships with government agencies the university works with due to the large number of bowling enthusiasts among staff of the agencies and the university.

She also thanked the agencies for their continued support and expressed hopes that relations would be further enhanced through more social events such as the bowling match.

Also present were Head of Immigration Miri Office Noryncosma Jauk and her deputy, Mohammad Osman; KWSP Assistant Manager Mohammad Hafez Hamidon and Approval Officer Muhammad Hakim, and PTPTN Miri Branch Manager Mohammad Lutfie.

The top three teams were awarded medals, trophies and hampers. Coming up tops was ‘KWSP B’ comprising of Muhammad Hakim, Mohammad Arsad, Sulaiman Abdul Majid and Mariana Adeni.

In second place was ‘Velocity Stikers’ comprising of Noryncosma Jauk, Audrey Ruby Palance, Jameson Malang and Samson Philip, while ‘The Trouble Maker’ consisting of Aprilla Johnny, Awang Madhi, Zairina Bahjam and Basil John placed third.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Hakim was adjudged the best male bowler while Noryncosma clinched the title of best female bowler title.

A lucky draw was held at the end of the event which saw ten participants walking away with bowling vouchers from Mega Lanes East Bintang Megamall and souvenirs from Curtin Malaysia.
