An Evening with Curtin

Monday 23 June 2008 –

Curtin University Sarawak invited applicants to attend a dinner session at Grand Palace Hotel last Saturday night. The party was organised to cater to public who wishes to know further information about courses offered in Curtin Sarawak.

The event was officiated by Chief Operating Officer, Alex Chung. A total number of 91 students and parents attended the event.

The event aims to open opportunity for the students and parents to get first-hands insights of the university with lecturers of relevant courses. Parents and students may be present at various counters arranged by the University. Among departments invited were School of Business (SOB), School of Engineering (SOE), School of Pre-University and Registrar Office.

Information of loans and scholarships were made available by the Registrar Office for those who are interested to apply for education financial assistance. Since CSM carries the status of an international university, often occurs of misconception among Bumiputra community that loans and scholarships are generally intended for non-Bumiputra. Curtin Sarawak on the other hand, encourages involvement of Bumiputra students.

Representatives of SOB and SOE were also present to assist parents and students who wish to know insights of courses syllabus and outline. Curtin Sarawak receives prudent active participation of local process industries such as Shin Yang, Shell and Malaysian Palm Oil Board that provide practical flavour to graduate students. School of Pre-University trains students with strong foundation of research and communication skills to equip them in Undergraduate Studies.

An evening with Curtin is a yearly event, conducted twice a year. For further information, you may contact Ms. Felecia Ngalih at 085-443939 or 019-885 6076 or visit www.curtin.edu.edu.my
