Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Malaysia Roadshow to visit Bintulu, Sibu and Kuching

Miri – 11 December 2008 – Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Malaysia (CSM), Sarawak’s first foreign university campus, will be holding an educational roadshow covering Bintulu, Sibu and Kuching this month to showcase its programmes and facilities to students interested to enroll in its 2009 intake.

Prospective students and their parents can visit the roadshow and acquire first-hand information on the academic programmes and facilities available at CSM. They will also get to meet academics and staff of the university, who will give talks on the programmes offered, entry requirements, career prospects upon graduation, and more. SPM, STPM, UEC and diploma school leavers are encouraged to attend the talks and bring along their transcripts for free assessments of eligibility.

Among the speakers at the talks will be loans and scholarships officer Marianne Masli who will offer advice on scholarships and financial assistance CSM students are eligible for. They include the CSM, Western Australian Government, Tunku Abdul Rahman, JPA Persekutuan, JPA Negeri Sabah, Shell Malaysia Exploration, Petronas and YTL Foundation scholarships, as well as PTPTN, Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Higher Education Fund Charitable Trust loans, and EPF withdrawal scheme for education.

Associate lecturer Kamaroizan Mohamad of the School of Foundation & Continuing Studies, meanwhile, will talk on planning the next move after the SPM, while senior lecturer Dr Lau Hieng Ho, head of the Civil & Construction Engineering Department, will highlight the university’s engineering programmes. He will also enlighten students on career prospects for engineering graduates and paths to professional engineer status.

The roadshow will kick off in Bintulu at the ParkCity Hotel from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm on 19 December 2008. It will then move on to Tanahmas Hotel in Sibu, where it will be open from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm and from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm on 20 December. On 21 December, it will be at the Holiday Inn Kuching from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm, 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm and 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. In addition to the roadshow, recruitment sessions will also be held in Bintulu, Sibu and Kuching between 5 and 15 December 2008.
