Curtin LEO Club to organise environmental project

As part of Curtin’s Leo Club initiative to lend a hand in saving the environment, an environmental project will be held through the month of August at the University.
The main objective of the project is to create awareness and action towards environmental issues – Global Warming.
“It is a learning process for Curtin students to share, learn and collaborate with other society towards better management skills hence enhancing the role of leadership among them”, exclaimed Daphne Yee, Organising Chairperson.
Scheduled on 8th August 2008, Richard Teo, Chairman of IEM (Institute of Engineers Malaysia) Miri Branch has been invited to conduct an environmental awareness talk titled “Why should we consider the Environment and an oil perspective”.
Richard Teo has been actively involved in environmentalist project. He vice-chaired LA21 Waste Reduction Working Group and runs his own business mainly in waste management for eight years. Currently, he is also the chairman of Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Miri Branch.
There will be range of activities included in the project such as recycle competition, banner design competition, recycle model competition, and environmental awareness talk.
Lions Club of Miri Host sponsor total cash of grand prize RM 1,000, where as first runner up and second runner up is each RM 750 and RM 500. Two consolation prizes are worth RM 200 each.
